ELIPHAS Nhliziyo is worried sick about his wife Jane who taunts him for allegedly being old.
Eliphas from Nyamandlovu, 40 kilometres north-west of Bulawayo, said his wife of 27 years, Jane Nhliziyo is always insulting him saying she could not continue living with an old man who could be older than her father.
a�?She is always insulting me saying I am now old and she needs younger men who can take care of all her needs.
a�?She is always coming home drunk and starts insulting me while calling me old madala. On 2 January I found her drinking beer with touts and she avoided me. When she got home she started harassing me after I asked her what she was doing with those touts. She is doing all these things because she wants a divorce,a�? lamented Eliphas.
His lament came after his wife had accused him of being of a violent nature. Jane, who was seeking a protection order against Eliphas, claimed her husband started abusing her in 2008.
a�?We have been legally married for 27 years.
a�?Our marriage had been peaceful until 2008 when he started physically abusing me. At the height of an altercation he would beat me with anything he reaches by hand, even an iron bar.
a�?At one time he stabbed me on my left arm with a kitchen knife. The last incident of abuse was on 2 January when he struck me with a log and I collapsed,a�? said Jane.
Eliphasa��s counter-accusations did not however, work when presiding magistrate Sheunesu Matova granted the peace order in favour of his wife.
He was sternly ordered not to insult, assault or threaten his wife in any way.
