THIEVES broke into the Old Mutual offices located at the corner of Sam Nujoma Street and Speke Avenue in Harare’s CBD on Wednesday morning.

The thieves appear to have been interested in stealing the padlocks.

Building caretaker, Luke Chiparawasha, 53, found out about the unlawful entry and theft when he found nine offices without padlocks.

Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the case and said investigations were in progress.

“Police are investigating an unlawful entry and theft of padlocks at a building along Speke Avenue,” said Insp Chakanza.

“Total value stolen is USD$235.”

In another case, a legal practitioner Forward Malinga, 42, of Waterfalls lost goods worth US$5850 to thieves who broke into his house.

Insp Chakanza said the thieves stole a portable safe, containing cash amounting to US $3 575, a bag containing Avon products and a metal box containing receipts.
