SYDNEY. – Olivier Giroud has said he does not know if he will still be an Arsenal player at the start of the new soccer season.

But Mesut Ozil says he wants to stay at Arsenal and will discuss his future with the club after a pre-season tour of Australia and China.

The midfielder (28) is under contract with Arsenal until 2018 but speculation over his future has been widespread. “It is definitely my preference to stay,” the German said yesterday.

“Once everyone is back in London, we will sit down and discuss the future. I have always said that I feel very good at Arsenal.” But Giroud has admitted he is considering quitting Arsenal this summer.

Giroud (30) could leave the Emirates as he fears the arrival of £52m record signing Alexandre Lacazette has put his Arsenal future in doubt.

Everton, West Ham, Marseille and AC Milan are all interested in Giroud who knows he must regularly this season or risk losing his place in the France squad for next summer’s World Cup.

The Frenchman, who signed a new three year deal in January, even spoke in the past tense as if his career at Arsenal is coming to an end after joining in 2012. – The Mirror.
