Olympians win Tanganda race

stopped the clock in 1 hour 0.2 minutes 43 seconds to claim the US$500 on offer in the senior men’s open race.
In second place was New Zim Steel’s Elmore Sibanda who recorded 1 hour 03 min 27 seconds with Kelvin Pangiso from Harare settling for third place in the men’s open category.
Pangiso completed the 21km race in 1 hour 04 minutes 45seconds.
Taengwa was the first female home for the event that was making a return to the radar for the first time since 2004.
Taengwa, who failed to finish at the London Games, crossed the line in 1 hour 18min 07 seconds and Olivia Chitate was a close second on 1 hour 18 min 09 seconds.
Constance Nyasango came third in 1 hour 18 min 51 seconds while Jacob Mugomeri took a double prize in the 10km race.
Mugomeri, won the 10km event in 31 minutes 19seconds, with Edwin Chimhomho getting the silver medal in 31 min 38 seconds while seasoned runner Portipher Dombojena ran 31 min 56 min.
In the women’s 10km race, Helen Chiundo came first in 40 min 27s with Monica Kativhu taking second place on 41 min 56 sec.
Rumbi Chimuka finished in position three on 42 min 26 sec as Elford Moyo won the men’s wheelchair 21km race in 1 hour 07 min with Samson Muroyiwa following, seven seconds behind.
There was also a prize for Magadaline Madzivire in the women’s wheelchair on a rather slow time of 1 hour 55 min 25 sec, beating Moline Majoni on 1 hour 58 min 48 sec.
The ageless Kingstone Maringe won the veteran category in 1 hour 10 min 45sec while Moses Amos was the first grandmaster home.
One of the event organisers Tsitsi Kumadiro said they were hoping to host the competition next year.
