Omega leads Zifa team to Mexico

ZIFA vice-president Omega Sibanda will lead a three-man Zimbabwe delegation to the 66th International Federation of Association Football congress in Mexico.
Sibanda is accompanied to the Fifa congress by Philemon Machana the executive member in charge of finance as well as Zifa acting general-secretary Joseph Mamutse. They leave tomorrow and return on Saturday.

It is understood that Zifa president Philip Chiyangwa excused himself from the trip as he has other commitments. Zifa spokesperson Xolisani Gwesela confirmed that Sibanda is the most senior of the association’s representatives heading to Mexico.

“Vice-president Omega Sibanda is leading a Zifa delegation to the Fifa congress in Mexico City, they leave on Monday and return on Saturday. Fifa requires us to send three names and we submitted those names,’’ said Gwesela.

According to the world football governing body’s calendar of events, the Fifa congress is scheduled for Thursday and Friday with confederations meetings as well as congresses set for Wednesday as well as Thursday.
