One person dies, 12 others injured in road crash

Traffic acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the incident.
“I can confirm that there was an accident yesterday along Simon Mazorodze Road opposite J Masters involving a commuter omnibus, UD truck and a Toyota Ipsum. All the vehicles were going the same direction towards the city centre,” said Asst Insp Chabanda.

He added that the driver of the Ipsum lost control of his vehicle when he tried to overtake a commuter omnibus which had 15 passengers on board. Three passengers in the Ipsum escaped with no injuries.

“The driver of the Ipsum lost control of his vehicle and rammed on the left front side of the UD truck. After the impact, he lost control again and hit the commuter omnibus on its right rear side leading to its driver losing control. It overturned killing one person and injuring 12 others. The injured and the body of the deceased were rushed to Harare Central Hospital,” he said.
