One week for Sobukhazi High to put house in order

Senior Sports Reporter
SOBUKHAZI High School have been given a one week “compassion” leave by the National Football Association of Zimbabwe (Nafaz) Southern Region Women Football league leadership so as to put their house in order or risk expulsion.

The school girls have not played a single match so far in the league resulting in their opponents being given games through walkovers and management has since seen it proper to put on hold their games so that they sort themselves out.

“Sobukhazi have been given a week off in order for them to put their house in order after two walkovers. We might be forced to expel them if there is no solution to their predicament,” said board member responsible for fixtures, Lee Mangena.

Meanwhile, it will be a blood and thunder affair at Milton High School this afternoon when ZRP Bulawayo locks horns with on-form Hwange Ladies.

So hot are the Edmore “Mamkhwebu” Sibanda-coached ladies that they hammered Highlanders 7-0 last week and if the police officers don’t put an extra effort, a similar catastrophe might befall them.

“We will try our best. We have been training hard and are coming to Bulawayo for a win,” said manageress Simayedwa Utete.

Leading scorer Nomazulu Tshuma, who scored four goals in the Highlanders massacre will be the key player to watch for the Bulawayo side. Tshuma is a player that national team coach Shadreck Mlauzi really needs to keep an eye on. Shellitar Ndlovu will be the key player for ZRP Bulawayo.

In other matches, Inline Academy look to have an easy home fixture when they take on a rebuilding Cowdray Park Queens at Masotsha Grounds.

Cowdray Park manageress Melody “Cosafa” Dube said they were ready for the encounter and will not be cowed by their opponents’ stature. She said they will give it their all.

“We are looking forward to the game. We are a new team yes but we can surprise them,” said Dube.

After two weeks of inaction Blackboots return to action with a tricky encounter against New Orleans while Street Set will be hoping to quickly get back to winning ways when they travel to Pumula North to take on Hearts of Oak. Last week, they were hit for four without reply by New Orleans.

Fixtures:

Today: Hearts of Oak v Street Set (Pumula North Shops 1PM), ZRP Bulawayo v Hwange Ladies (Milton High 1PM ), New Orleans v Black boots (Matshayisikhova , 10AM), Inline Academy v Cowdray Park Queens ( Masotsha 10AM), Highlanders Royals on bye
