Organisers of Black Opal Face of Zimbabwe (BOFOZ) pageant has said that this year’s edition will have only one winner who will pocket $8 000 cash. This year’s finale is being held at the Glamis Arena September 17. Apart from the girls who will be fighting for the coveted title, the public also stands a chance to win a car after voting.This year’s pageant is running under the theme “Define your Beauty” and the finale is dedicated to Zimdancehall fanatics.
In an interview with BOFOZ spokesperson Tanaka Ngorora said the preparations are at advanced stage with entries closing this Thursday.
“We are going to have one winner this year for BOFOZ who will take all. For the voters, we will conduct a draw and a car Toyota IST ex-Japanese will be won.
“The promotion is currently in progress with one round to go before entries close on June 16. Judges choices will be selected to search for the final two contestants with highest sms votes by July 23. This means 12 finalists will battle it out in September. We have one winner this year who will walk away with a cash prize amounting to $8 000,” he said.
Ngorora said there will be no red carpet moments this year.
“We have some dancehall stars who are billed to grace the occasion. Black Opal originates from the US and the pioneers of the brand have Jamaican heritage.
“We are therefore lining up Jamaican artistes to give our local Zimdancehall an opportunity to work together.
We are now in the final stages in signing contracts with some of the acts including Romain Virgo,” he said.
Meanwhile, Jamaican singer Romain Virgo who has been listed as one of the main acts at this year’s (BOFOZ) has confirmed his participation via a video posted on social media platforms.
“Yes Zimbabwe, this is Romain Virgo getting ready for BOFOZ September 17, you cannot miss this one alright. Chipaz Promotions represents this one. I will be coming soon,” he said.
