Online restaurant directory launched

Dinewell Zimbabwe chairman Mr Jefta Mugweni said their core business was to drive traffic to the restaurants that were listed on their directory.
“People can find out where to find a restaurant that sells the type of food they like at the click of a button,” he said.
He said although food outlets were already showing interest, small outlets had resisted the initiative.

“Some do not even have a website while some have not yet grasped the advantages of listing online to their businesses but we are offering our services to all food outlets,” said Mr Mugweni.
He said there were 24 restaurants that had already listed on the directory since its inception four weeks ago.

He added that a Dinewell club had also been introduced to help increase the volumes of people going to the listed restaurants and offer compensation to members for selling their service and introducing others into the association’s network.
“Members enjoy discounts and preferential treatment at any of the restaurants listed on our directory and there is an opportunity for restaurants to increase each outlet’s revenues through a larger customer base,” said Mr Mugweni.

He added that this would also be a chance for members to earn extra income for every six people they introduce to the club.
Mr Mugweni said 150 people had already registered and they expected to have a base of 50 000 members by the end of this year and 60 000 by 2020.

Network Marketing is not a new concept in Zimbabwe, there are products like Avon, Tupperware and Forever Living that are already being sold for a commission.
Mr Mugweni said there were plans to engage airlines and hotels so that club members can enjoy the same benefits they get in restaurants.

“Members would get points for using a certain airline or staying at a hotel and then eventually they would get discounts. This would mean they get discounts on travelling, accommodation and food whenever they travel,” said Mr Mugweni.
