The Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) prioritises the well-being of its workforce as it will ensure efficient service delivery to Zimbabweans, the OPC’s Director Gender Mainstreaming, Inclusivity and Wellness Mr Jabulani Ndebele has said.
Consequently, the OPC will be establishing a physical wellness programme to equip its workforce, physically and mentally.
Speaking during a handover of a consignment of sports equipment donated by Geo Pomona Waste Management yesterday, Mr Ndebele said it was important that workers are well-equipped to serve the people diligently.
“It means a lot because from mid-2022, the Public Service Commission created the post of Director responsible for gender mainstreaming, inclusivity and wellness, so if you look at these three functional areas this donation will go a long way for us to establish the physical wellness programme in the Office of the President and Cabinet.
“If you look at international trends, wellness is something that people don’t really understand, but of late its coming to the fore where all the dimensions of wellness are being taken into consideration.
“As the Office of the President and Cabinet we would want to adopt a culture of well-being where lifestyle changes are incorporated in our programmes, and we have a holistic health outlook for our employees,” he said.
Mr Ndebele said a healthy workforce was vital as it would in turn see maximum service delivery.
“Part of physical wellness involves biometric screening, if all those chronic ailments are managed then we will have a healthy workforce and productivity increases,” he said.
He expressed gratitude to Geo Pomona Waste Management for the thoughtful donation saying it would go a long way.
“On behalf of the Office of the President and Cabinet, our Chief Secretary Dr Martin Rushwaya, and the rest of the staff I would like to thank the CEO and executive chairman of Geo Pomona Waste Management Mr (Dilesh) Nguwaya for this generous donation that he has given to the Office of the President and Cabinet,” he said.
Mr Nguwaya said the OPC was a busy office hence the gesture.
“We have given this equipment so that they are able to work on their fitness levels.
“They are very busy people so they should have time to train and exercise so that they freshen up and to keep their mindsets at optimum levels,” he said.
