THE Great Exodus at Dynamos was triggered by a sensational fallout between the players and the club during the drama which affected their camp as the club prepared for the CAF Confederation Cup second round, second leg tie against Orapa United of Botswana.
The Glamour Boys, who had won the first leg 1-0, in the first leg, but lost the second leg by a similar scoreline and crashed out after losing 1-3 on penalties.
It was a massive blow for DeMbare who were also set to pocket their biggest cheque in years with a US$400 000 windfall from CAF.
A 3-1 loss in a penalty shootout saw Dynamos bow out of the 2024 Caf Confederation Cup.
Orapa are winless in five matches in their group and are bottom of their table.
There was turmoil in the DeMbare camp during that tour of duty with players being fed from food which was bought from a street corner restaurant.
The low quality of the food had an effect on the players and some of them played the match while having serious stomach complications.
There was a sensational fallout between the players and the club’s officials.
“The exodus at the club recently was mainly spiked by the frustration of players by their leadership,” said the source.
“The circumstances leading to the loss to Orapa United fuelled all this.
“The players were frustrated ahead of the match and they were psychologically deranged.
“There was an exchange of words and the working environment was not viable.”
However, another source said:
“The club is rebuilding now. MaBlanyo is spearheading it, he has great contacts with unheralded talent and the team will also bring in a number of high-profile names.
“The club has enjoyed remarkable success in recent years.”
Dynamos have lost Frank Makarati, Elvis and Kelvin Moyo, Shadreck Nyahwa, Tanaka Shandirwa, Emmanuel Ziocha, Donald Mudadi, Emmanuel Paga, Issa Sadiki and Sadney Urikhob since the end of last season.
Several other players are reported to be on the verge of leaving the club.
They include Emmanuel Jalai and goalkeeper Martin Mapisa.
The technical team has also been affected and DeMbare have lost Joel Luphaphla to champions Simba Bhora.
The year began on a somber note with the death of Richard Nyoka Chihoro, an influential figure at the club.
