SONGSTRESS Ammara Brown shocked fans on Saturday when she jumped on stage like an out of control teenager to dance with Nigerian afro popstar, “D’Banj” (born Dapo Daniel Oyebanjo) at Glamis Arena over the weekend. She stripped herself of her celebrity status and joined nine other girls nicknamed “kokolates” grinding and twerking on D’Banj during the Lion Lager Summer Beer Festival.

As if that was not enough, Ammara took it a step further by singing a little piece on how she wanted to “go down” on D’Banj the Kokomaster.

“My God, who sent you? What is your name girl,” said D’Banj, visibly impressed by the diva’s “performance”.
Although her act was impressive, by groupie standards, she left some fans wondering why she would stoop to such low levels.

“We regard Ammara as a celebrity here but this is the reason why locals are looked down upon. How can she get excited by a fellow celebrity to the extent of reducing herself to a groupie,” said one annoyed fan.

While there was nothing wrong with her going on stage, people thought it would have been better if she did it more professionally.
“If she wanted to join D’Banj for a performance, she should have been professional about it. Wasn’t she supposed to have arranged it professionally and done a proper duet? We saw the same thing happening with Cindy Munyavi and Beenie Man,” added another.

Beenie Man and Cindy performed the Jamaican’s hit song “Dude” at the 2010 edition of the beer fest. D’Banj, on the other hand, left a bitter taste in the mouth after he failed to rise to the occasion during Saturday’s show.

As an established artiste with international acclaim and an MTV Europe Music award winner fans can be forgiven for expecting a top-notch performance at the beer festival.
