Outstanding cops get awards

He said police would continue to add invaluable positive contribution to the policing initiatives.

Snr Asst Comm Munoriyarwa was speaking at the Harare South district Cop of the Month and Station of the Quarter Awards ceremony held in Glen View.
The awards were sponsored by Savanna Tobacco Holdings and Rossa Foods.
“It is exceedingly pleasing to note that the business community and the general public have taken this drive in filling the gap by providing sponsorship for these incentives aimed at motivating members of

the ZRP to ensure they perform their duties above expectations,” he said.
Snr Asst Comm Munoriyarwa said this gesture would go a long way in the fight against crime and instill zeal within members when discharging their duties.
The companies’ goodwill would also promote competitiveness among members of the force and the community, he said.

“Discipline, commitment, dedication, professionalism and patriotism remain the ZRPs corporate traditional and cultural values,” Snr Asst Comm Munoriyarwa said.
The officer commanding Harare South district, Chief Superintendent Aleck Chagwedera, said it was against this background that as commanders of the district, they sought to identify values which were fundamental guiding principles to their performance and attitudes.

“Hence, we found it necessary to constantly reward those whose dedication to duty is commendable,” he said.
Rosa Foods managing director Mr Agrippa Chingezi said their company had a role and responsibility to play in the community.

“Indeed, it is Rosa Food’s social responsibility to give back to the community and sectors supported also include education, health, sports to mention a few,” he said.
Mr Chingezi said the tremendous success they had enjoyed to date was largely owed to a very supportive community and the ZRP.

A total of 20 policemen and women received certificates and cash during the ceremony, while three Police Stations – Glen View, Dzivaresekwa and Warren Park were awarded for being outstanding in the district.
