FOR many women, the countdown has begun for ladies-only parties – Doek and Slay and Girlfest Zimbabwe.
In the coming weeks, women will first gather for the second of the Doek and Slay Harare editions.
The women are expected to embrace a stylish denim-on-denim dress code with a cowgirl-inspired touch and fashionable sunglasses
The next Harare edition is scheduled for August 16.
After that, the capital will not host any Mega Doek and Slay events until the mega show with its “safari style” theme, featuring shades of white, and khaki, complemented by a doek or straw hat and sunglasses.
The fashion excitement will then shift to Girlfest Zimbabwe.
Its seventh edition, themed the Rosa Riviera Edition, draws inspiration from the French Riviera and Mediterranean aesthetics.
Last year’s “Old Money Casual Summer” theme saw thousands of women embracing effortless sophistication, further cementing the festival’s reputation as both a lifestyle and fashion showcase.
However, excitement ahead of this year’s Girlfest has been tempered by concerns after organisers suspended physical ticket sales, following a break-in that resulted in the theft of a significant number of festival tickets.
Organisers announced that all general admission and VIP tickets currently in circulation were being withdrawn and replaced with a new ticket design to protect festival-goers from fraud.
The announcement left many ticket holders worried about whether the tickets they bought will remain valid.
In a statement, organisers sought to reassure patrons, saying the move was necessary to protect genuine ticket holders.
“We have been robbed and, no, this is not a drill. We’re saddened to let you know that we recently experienced a break-in, and a GOOD number of Girlfest tickets were stolen.
“Because protecting our Girlfest family comes first, all current general and VIP tickets are being withdrawn and replaced with a new ticket design.
“The new tickets will be available through our official sales outlets within the next 48 hours.
“Please only purchase tickets through our official retailers and sales channels.
“All stolen tickets have been deactivated and will not scan at the gate, so anyone who purchases one from an unofficial seller will unfortunately be denied entry.”
Girlfest Zimbabwe, established in 2019, is a women-only lifestyle and social festival scheduled for September 19.
