Local farmers and miners are set to be honoured on April 25 and 26 for their outstanding positive contribution in their communities.
The awards ceremony, which is a brainchild of National Business Excellence aimed at for the recognition and appreciation of businesses and individuals taking an extra step to serve excellence in their respective industries in Zimbabwe.
Following a successful run of awards ceremonies last year, the organisers said, the event will be recognising outstanding individuals in farming and mining across the country.
The awards ceremony will be held at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC).
In an interview, the event’s secretary Kudzai Mbengeranwa said, they are celebrating business leaders in this area.
“By celebrating business leaders in the agriculture and mining industries, we aim to inspire others to strive for excellence and contribute positively to their communities.
“The main motivation for launching these awards was inspired by the iconic Mbuya Nehanda statue, a powerful symbol of the importance of recognising and honouring remarkable achievements,” she said.
Mbengeranwa said the awards will honour projects of all sizes from small start-ups to large corporations based on their exceptional contributions to Zimbabwe’s economic growth and development.
“A team of researchers has been evaluating businesses nationwide using stringent criteria, including hygiene and working conditions, worker safety, customer service, contributions to Zimbabwe’s economy, and philanthropy.
“The awards will celebrate the achievements of directors, management teams, and sales personnel who have made a significant impact on Zimbabwe’s business landscape.
“The nomination process is currently underway, with researchers discreetly visiting businesses while posing as customers to ensure a fair, unbiased, and comprehensive evaluation,” she added.
