A Glenwood traditional healer was arrested on Sunday for allegedly raping a teenager, who had failed to pay for medicines.
Blessing Makuyana was reported to have approached the girl aged 18 when he saw her leaving Epworth Police Station where her sister was detained.
Sekuru Blessing told the teenager that he was a traditional healer and was willing to assist her spiritually so that her sister would be released from the police holding cells.
He requested to take her to his shrine in Glenwood Park for the rituals and she agreed.
However, upon arrival in Glenwood Park, Sekuru Blessing took the teenager to a certain house where he prepared some traditional medicine.
Sekuru Blessing asked the teenager if she had money on her.
He demanded sex as payment for his traditional medicine, she refused and he raped her.
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the case.
“Police arrested a traditional healer for raping his client,” said Insp Chakanza.
“The accused person threatened the complainant with death if she disclosed the matter to anyone.
“The complainant went home, and she narrated the abuse to her sister leading to the arrest of the accused person,” said Insp Chakanza.
