More than 1 000 villagers in Bubi District benefited from a community health outreach programme spearheaded by local Member of Parliament Cde Simelisizwe Sibanda over the weekend.
Held under the theme “Leaving No One and No Place Behind,” the outreach aligned with the national development vision championed by President Mnangagwa. It was organised in partnership with Doctors, Ancillary and Nurses for ED (DAaN4ED), Discovery Ambulances, and the Ministry of Health and Child Care.
The initiative reached villagers in Mpolompolo (Ward 1), Hamilton (Ward 12) and surrounding areas, including Wards 9, 10 and 14. About 500 people received free medical consultations, chronic illness screening, HIV testing and counselling, family planning services and medication.
Forty community members also received First Aid training under the Presidential Emergency Medical Scheme.
“This outreach is not just about health, it is about dignity, inclusion and development. Our people deserve access to basic services regardless of how remote their communities are,” said Cde Sibanda.
He said more community-focused outreach programmes were planned for all wards in Bubi District, integrating health, education, water and livelihoods support under the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) and Vision 2030.
Cde Sibanda donated 300 litres of diesel towards borehole drilling in the drought-prone community in Ward 9 to improve access to clean water.
The outreach also featured a youth soccer tournament with teams from Wards 1, 9 and 10 participating. Winners received soccer balls and other prizes to promote sport and social cohesion.
The event was attended by Zanu PF youth leadership, District Coordinating Committee members, village heads and officials from the Ministry of Health and Child Care.
