The 19-year-old winger is in a rush to get right to the top after bursting on to the England soccer scene last year following his £15 million move to the Emirates from Southampton.
But not everything has gone exactly to plan for the impatient teenager who has spent much of this season watching from the subs’ bench.
So now he hopes his starring role in England’s 8-0 win in San Marino last Friday night has reminded a few people exactly what he is capable of.
The Ox said: “Obviously this season hasn’t progressed in the way I wanted it to because I always want to be playing.
“But I always understand that Mr Wenger will sometimes protect his younger players.
“I remember speaking to Robin van Persie last year and Theo Walcott before that.
“They both told me they experienced the same thing and warned me not to get frustrated if I’m not playing every week.
“I can’t really complain about the way the season has gone and there are still quite a few games to go so I could be a crucial part of the team at some point.
“I’ve just got to make sure I’m ready to help the team both mentally and physically when I am needed.
“We’ve got a tough run-in to make sure we finish in the top four and qualify for the Champions League again. We all have to be ready to play our part.
“I’m not sure if the manager is taking things carefully with me because of what happened with Jack Wilshere.
“He’s a very wise man and he has his reasons.
“He’s a brilliant manager and all I can do is keep working hard and make sure I am a positive player in the team when I do get my chances.”
Oxlade-Chamberlain certainly showed his readiness last week when he stepped into the Three Lions starting line-up in San Marino after Arsenal pal Walcott suffered a groin injury in training on the eve of the game. — The Sun.
