CHICKEN INN striker Obadiah Tarumbwa pulled a fast one on Botswana Premiership side Mochudi Centre Chiefs who had been trying to lure him behind the teamaï¿½ï¿½s back.

To give them that aï¿½?in your faceaï¿½? attitude he did not arrive for a scheduled meeting with the club in Gaborone.

During the unsanctioned negotiations the club had offered himAï¿½ a seasonaï¿½ï¿½s signing on fee of P30 000.

aï¿½?Mochudi Centre Chiefs were willing to sign Tarumbwa for a season on a P30 000 fee. Just before Christmas the club was in constant communication with the player showing desire to hire him.

aï¿½?They had to facilitate accommodation and other logistical needs for him in Gaborone because they expected him to sign,aï¿½? said the source.

Gaborone United are under the tutelage of ex-Highlanders, Zimbabwe Saints and Tsholotsho FC coach Bongani Mafu who had reportedly recommended Tarumbwa to the club.

Tarumbwa joined Chicken Inn at the beginning of last season on a two-year permanent contract from his parent club Bantu Rovers after loaning him out for a season to Bulawayo football giants Highlanders.

aï¿½?While Tarumbwa did nothing wrong by talking to Mochudi Centre Chiefs, we are worried about clubs that are fond of talking to players without talking to clubs that they are contracted top. That is very unprofessional. Clubs should first find out on the status of a particular player they will be chasing. Tarumbwa is still contracted to Chicken Inn,aï¿½? said Chicken Inn chairman Lifa Ncube.

Mafu, who was not reachable for a comment, joined Mochudi Center Chiefs last AugustAï¿½ alongAï¿½ with two players from Bulawayo Chiefs, namely Stanley Ngala, a striker and a winger Remington Masuku.

Ngala and Masuku were secured on a seasonaï¿½ï¿½s loan.

The club also has another Zimbabwean in their books, former Chicken Inn defender Charles Mutero who joined them last season.

Chiefs, who are Botswana defending champions find themselves in relegation zone after only 10 matches.
