Elton Munzara, one of Pah Chihera’s backing vocalist has died. Munzara died at Chitungwiza hospital on Sunday after a short illness. Speaking form Dubai where the group is on tour, the “Runonzi Rudo” hitmaker said it was unfortunate that the late Munzara failed to travel with the group to Dubai.
“We were told that he passed on yesterday. He is not with us because there were delays in processing his passport and his visa was denied because he is only 16,” she said.

Burial arrangements are yet to be finalised. Pah Chihera whose real name is Tracy Mbirimi said Munzara’s death was a blow to the band which is still basking in the glory of their first international tour.

“The tour was amazing and I managed to brush shoulders and meet with The Popular Kidum and Boda Boda Band. I also managed to sign more shows internationally it’s amazing how things have turned out in such a short period and I feel the tour was a stepping stone in my career,” she said.

Pah Chihera has since dedicated their homecoming show slated for Legends Sports Bar in Marondera on Saturday to Munzara.

“Our homecoming show will be in Marondera together with Sulumani Chimbetu and all the money will go to his mother,” she said.

Show organisor Daniel Masaiti said they would also give some money towards the funeral.

“As Legends Sports Bar we received the message with great shock because they are supposed to perform here on Saturday and we have decided to assist the family with some money to cover funeral costs,” said Masaiti.

He said they would also engage a local group from Marondera called “House of Stone” to perform on the same night.
