Pair crushed to death

TWO friends were crushed to death by a Victoria Falls bound goods train after falling asleep on the railway line on their way home from a beer-drink at Mubiya siding, near Victoria Falls Airport. The accident which has left Sikabela villagers on the outskirts of Victoria Falls dumbfounded happened on Saturday evening at around 9PM.

Acting officer commanding police, Victoria Falls District, Superintendent Dominic Sibanda confirmed the death of Mzindaye Ncube, 14, of  Chinotimba Township and his friend, Braiben Shoko, 21, of Sikabela village, Victoria Falls.

“The duo was last seen at around 8PM at Lukosi Business Centre drinking beer. They then left for Shoko’s homestead,” he said.
Supt Sibanda said on their way, they decided to rest on the railway line at Mubiya siding and must have fallen asleep.

“Around 9PM, the train on its way to Victoria Falls got to the place and the duo stood up and in the process of trying to assist each other off the railway line they were both hit by the train. Their heads where crushed and they died on the spot,” he said.
