POLICE have arrested two suspected thieves believed to be behind a spate of motorcycle thefts and break-ins in and around Chegutu, recovering several stolen bikes and other property.
The suspects, Andy Ushewokunze (30) and Titus Manjengwa, are linked to a series of offences committed between January and May 20, 2026.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrests, saying Manjengwa was apprehended on May 21 after police received information that he was in possession of stolen motorcycles.
“Upon his arrest, Titus Manjengwa implicated Andy Ushewokunze, leading to his arrest at Mukohwe Shopping Centre in Pfupajena,” said Comm Nyathi.
Police subsequently recovered six stolen motorcycles and a solar battery.
The two suspects are believed to be connected to at least 10 cases of motorcycle theft, as well as a case of unlawful entry and theft that occurred in May 2026 at a house in Kaguvi Phase Four, Chegutu, where a solar battery and a television set were stolen.
Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt for the suspects’ alleged accomplices, identified as Tapiwa Ushewokunze and Last Masarakufa.
Members of the public with information that may lead to their arrest are urged to contact the National Complaints Desk on (0242) 703631 or WhatsApp 0712 800 197, or report to any nearest police station.
