TWO employees of Zimbabwe Parents of Handicapped Children Association (ZPHCA) yesterday appeared in court facing charges of stealing $10,000 donated to the association.Tracy Mabhiza, 38, of Queenspark and Lovemore Chipatiso, 40, both pleaded not guilty before Sibongile Msipa.

Mabhiza is the association’s co-ordinator while Chipatiso is the finance officer.

Prosecuting, Caroline Matanga told the court that on July 29 last year, the complainant, Firelight Foundation Zimbabwe entered into a physiotherapy contract with the ZPHCA Bulawayo branch to fund the organisation.

Mabhiza signed for ZPHCA.

“On July 10, Firelight Foundation, deposited funds amounting to $10,000 into the organisation’s bank account. The money was to be used in physiotherapy outreach programmes for vulnerable children,” said Matanga.

The duo allegedly connived and withdrew the money which they then converted to their own use.

They were granted $200 bail each and will be back in court on June 25.
