MANAGEMENT at Pakare Paye Arts Centre in Norton has hailed the country’s female artists for their unity.
This follows their successful all-female gala held at the centre two weeks ago.
The Divas In Action show brought female artists together.
In an interview with H-Metro, Pakare Paye board member, Faith Kadzura, said they will continue assisting female artists who need space to showcase their talents.
“We are honoured to have hosted the all-female artists’ gala.
“It was a blessing to have witnessed female artists coming together as a unit and it’s good news for the young generation of female artists,” she said.
Kadzura, who also runs Style of Faith clothing brand, added:
“The unity displayed among women means a better tomorrow for female artists.
“These kind of events need to happen regularly and we are here to assist them.”
Daisy, widow of the late Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi, has backed the Divas in Action female group’s initiatives to empower each other.
A brainchild of Sarah Dee, the event lived up to expectations.
Chido Machanzi, who was clad in gold from top to bottom, stole the show.
Other artists, who attended the event, included Attalia Parehwa, Bridget Mlambo, Beauty Katiji, Caychi, Natasha Muz, Jully Bee, Precious Lady Bimma Mujibha, Flame Lily, Shantel Sithole, Fadzie Kays, Cee Kay, Vani Timbe, Patricia Sipanera and Sarah Dee.
A number of these artists are new in the industry and are yet to make an impression. ZIMURA board chairman, Albert Nyathi, also graced the event and shared some wise words with the female artists.
Divas in Action president, Sarah Dee, has vowed to take the show countrywide. There are plans to hold similar gigs at Harare Gardens, Kadoma and other parts of the country.
