Palestine condemns Israeli brutality

AMBASSADOR of the State of Palestine to Zimbabwe, Dr Tamer Almassri, has strongly condemned the brutal bombardment and heinous massacres committed by the Israeli occupation forces against displaced people in the Al Mawasi area of Khan Yunis in the Gaza Strip.

Amb Almassri said the attacks and killings were an explicit act of terrorism and new evidence of the systematic policy of deliberate extermination of the Palestinian people.

He said Israeli occupation forces have committed four massacres against families in the Gaza Strip over the last 24 hours.

Amb Almassri said this has resulted in the documented killing of at least 90 Palestinians and the injury of 400 others, including children, women and rescue crews forcing the closure of medical facilities and even restricting the entry of medical equipment.

“The State of Palestine considers these crimes as an extension of the crime of genocide that the Israeli occupation continues to commit against Palestinian civilians, in blatant defiance of United Nations resolutions and the orders of the International Court of Justice.”

Amb Almassri also said the international community and major powers must assume their responsibility regarding the continued blatant aggression of Israel which considers itself above international law and take decisive action to completely stop Israel’s criminal acts against the defenceless Palestinians.

The Palestinian documented death toll from the Israeli onslaught has risen to 38 while 88 881 individuals sustained injuries.

In another act of defiance to international law and UNSC resolutions, two massacres were committed against Palestinian families in the Gaza Strip last week, resulting in the documented killing of at least 23 Palestinians in a bombing carried out by Israeli occupation aircraft and artillery on several sites in the Gaza Strip.

The killings took place mainly in the city of Khan Yunis in the south, and on Shujaiya neighbourhood and Nuseirat camp in the centre of the Strip.

The killings came as hundreds of Palestinian patients were forced to flee the European Hospital and tent camps for the displaced in Khan Younis as the Israeli army ordered an immediate evacuation of eastern areas of Gaza’s second-largest city.

In a statement, Amb Almassri said the latest mass evacuation order came as Israeli tanks and fierce fighting trapped Palestinian civilians in Rafah, in the south of the Gaza Strip, and the Shujaiya neighbourhood in northern Gaza City.

He described the mass evacuations as death sentences and said they showed that no place was safe in Gaza as Palestinians go through another deadly circle of displacement that the population has to undergo on a regular basis.

“Most of Gaza’s population of 2.3 million have fled their homes, with many displaced multiple times. Israeli restrictions and genocide war has hindered the delivery of humanitarian aid, fuelling widespread hunger and sparking fears of famine,” he said.
