PALESTINIAN Ambassador to Zimbabwe Dr Tamer Almassri has condemned renewed Israeli bombardments in Gaza that have killed at least 51 Palestinians, including six children and several police officers and described the attacks as a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement.
In a statement, Ambassador Almassri said the continued strikes demonstrated Israel’s failure to respect the ceasefire framework in the Gaza Strip.
“This horrendous violence is a continued violation of the established ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip,” he said.
He said Palestinians required lasting protection rather than temporary pauses in fighting.
“The people in Gaza deserve more than a pause in violence; they deserve a genuine, permanent ceasefire,” Ambassador Almassri said.
According to figures cited in the statement, the cumulative toll from Israel’s military campaign since October 2023 has reached 71 795 Palestinians killed and 171 551 injured.
Despite the ceasefire reportedly taking effect on October 11, 2025, casualties have continued to rise, with 523 people killed and 1 433 injured since that date.
Ambassador Almassri described the ongoing military action as “genocidal” and called for an immediate halt to hostilities.
“We demand an immediate end to this genocidal war, a total cessation of ceasefire violations, and a definitive end to the occupation,” he said.
Ambassador Almassri urged the international community to take concrete action to protect civilians and ensure accountability.
“The international community must move beyond rhetoric to ensure the protection of Palestinian lives, intervene, hold violators accountable and work collaboratively towards sustainable peace in the region,” he said.
The latest escalation comes amid sustained international concern over civilian casualties in Gaza, with repeated calls for the full implementation of a permanent ceasefire and renewed diplomatic engagement.
