not only local but regional shows in the last six months.
The music icon, who was in Botswana last week for a massive gig, will on Saturday continue with his high-octane shows, when he descends on Pamuzinda Highway Xscape for a family show.
He would be joined on stage by dendera sensation Suluman Chimbetu and one of Zimbabwe’s upcoming music stars – Munya Matarutse – in what promises to be a sparkling weekend show.
It will be a homecoming show for Tuku, who not only commands a huge fan base locally and in the region but across the globe.
Pamuzinda Highway Xscape marketing and communications manager Tawanda Chiraga said the show would afford Tuku an opportunity to serenade his fans, in a laid back environment.
“This would be an exclusive family show, where family and friends will wine and dine with conscious abandon, in an serene atmosphere,” he said.
There is no doubt that the intimate ambience at the joint will afford the audience an opportunity to get up close and personal with their music hero at another level.
Like the gentleman he has always been, by having many family shows, Tuku is also fulfilling the promise that he made in 2009, to pay tribute to history and homage to the generous passage of time that allowed him to achieve so much.
He added that he was going to hold more local shows and true to his word, he has been doing exactly that.
The country’s international acclaimed musician has also been on a whirlwind tour of the region, where he has been staging massive gigs.
Tuku has since added on a new dimension of creativity by coming up with a lean acoustic set-up that now allows him to hold more solo shows, to spice up his act and stamp his authority.
In May this year, the music icon was part of the prestigious line-up of musicians who took part at the highly publicised One Night in Africa that took place in East Rand, South Africa.
He wowed the crowd while sharing the stage with Jaziel Brothers and one of Mzansi’s new afro outfits, Asanda Bam.
It was indeed a double dose for his Jozi fans, who had an opportunity witness Tuku on stage with United States-based legendary Chimurenga music maestro Thomas Mapfumo.
Tuku, who turns 59 next month, is a man who has seen it all in the music industry from the time he kicked off his career with The Wagon Wheels, alongside Mapfumo in 1977, and has never looked back.
Those who have seen him live will be familiar with the way he sways from side to side, ethereally picking his guitar strings whilst belting out tunes from his celebrated repertoire.
There is no doubt, however, that fans would be treated to a fun-filled day when the three gentlemen meet at Pamuzinda.
