ABOUT 107 parastatals have undergone training on corporate governance by local firm The Quality Corporate Governance Centre.
More parastatals are expected to undergo the same training.
This was revealed by the centre’s CEO Mr Tendai Rusere, ahead of the second edition of the annual “Chairpersons’ Lounge” later this month.
The event will be running under the theme “Africanacity in the Cockpit While Taking Over the Globe”.
Said Mr Rusere: “We have the capacity to train all the parastatals in the country. So, this organisation was one of the pioneers in teaching corporate governance.
“Currently, we have trained 107 parastatals and an excess of 1 000 corporate bodies.”
He said the firm has expanded its team of consultants, which is helping to evaluate and implement the international results based management system in the public sector.
The firm’s chairperson Advocate Canaan Dube — who is also chairperson for Hippo Valley Estates — warned against the dangers of nepotism
