Parents get son arrested after stealing from home

A 21-YEAR-OLD man was arrested for allegedly stealing household goods from his own father’s home and became violent when confronted by his brother.

The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) in a statement on X, said: “Shepherd Mubata aged 21 was convicted by a Chinhoyi Magistrate on two counts of theft. The complainant in this matter is the accused person’s biological father.

“On the 7th of August 2024 the accused person who was alone at home stole a wireless speaker. When he was confronted by his father, the accused person admitted to committing the offence. The speaker was valued at USD15.”

The NPAZ said Mubata also stole 3x 2 litres of cooking oil, 1kg of soluble non selective granular herbicides, 6x2kg of washing powder as well as 2kg of glyphosate.

“The accused person’s brother saw him leaving the house with the stolen property and confronted him. The accused person became violent and his brother reported the matter to their mother. A Police report was made leading to the arrest of the accused person.”

Mubata is scheduled to return to court receive their sentence, said the NPAZ.
