NEW: Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals opens respiratory surgery unit

PARIRENYATWA Group of Hospitals, with assistance from the 20th China Medical Team, recently opened a respiratory system surgery that will provide continuous care for adults with various respiratory-related diseases.

Pulmonologist and head of the respiratory unit at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals Dr Felix Manyeruke said: “The respiratory surgery has been operating for the past three months and it started with only eight beds, which have been expanded to 60 beds.

“Since it started, doctors have been providing continuous care for a wide range of respiratory-related diseases, which include asthma, bronchitis, lung cancer and lung infection (pneumonia).”

The 20th China Medical Team captain, Dr Ou Yang, said the partnership between Parirenyatwa and Huan Republic of China Clinic is meant to save lives and support Zimbabwe’s health system.

“We look forward to continue working together as a team under the coordination of the Zimbabwean health authorities,” said Dr Ou.
