HIGHLANDERS’ officials yesterday left for a tour of some European clubs to familiarise themselves with global football best practice protocols.

The trip is sponsored by their principal sponsors, Sakunda.

The tour group comprised Bosso chairman, Johnfat Sibanda, board chairman Luke Mnkandla. treasurer Busani Mthombeni and secretary Morgen Dube.

They will familiarise themselves with leadership and management structures, training facilities and managing them, business models and investor relations, among other things.

Speaking to H-Metro at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, Dube said:

“We are setting sail this evening (yesterday) and we will be visiting three countries.

“We are going to take off for Paris to explore the facilities at PSG.

“We are also hoping to watch their Champions League game on Tuesday.

“After that, we will split into two groups, with one heading to Spain and the other to the UK.

“The group to the UK is scheduled to meet with our fan base, as we command a big following there.”

He added:

“The Diaspora fan base should have an idea of what is happening here and they also need to understand our relationship with Sakunda, our principal sponsor.

“We shall also go to Belgium.

“We have got arrangements to try and create relations that may lead to exchange programmes.

“We also seek to turn Highlanders into a conveyor belt for some Belgium clubs.

“Highlanders is a big club and, hopefully, we will make a breakthrough there.”

He said they were grateful to Sakunda for coming up, and sponsoring the trip, with the hope that it will provide a breakthrough that will change the club’s fortunes, on and off the field of play.

Dynamos, who are also sponsored by Sakunda, are set to embark on a similar tour next month.
