adminJOHANNESBURG. — Kaizer Chiefs forward Bernard Parker has hailed Knowledge Musona following the Zimbabwean’s inspiring performance against SuperSport United on Wednesday night.
Amakhosi’s 1-0 win over Matsatsantsa at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday night was their ninth consecutive victory and as a result, they have gone 11 points clear at the top of the standings.
The 27-year-old, who was returning to the line-up after missing the match against Moroka Swallows at Dobsonville Stadium on January 31 through injury, was handed the Man of the Match award, but the South African international feels Musona deserved the accolade.
“I don’t think I deserved this Man of the Match (award). I think it should go to Knowledge. He gave problems to their centre-backs. He held up the ball and he kept feeding me. I would just like to say thank you to him. I say thank you to my teammates, three points is important,” Parker says.
Parker has now scored 10 goals in all competitions this season in 21 starts, while Musona is not far off with seven goals in 16 starts.
Goals in either half from Khama Billiat and Anthony Laffor saw Mamelodi Sundowns beat Golden Arrows 2-0 in their Premiership clash at Loftus Versveld.
The result, combined with SuperSport United’s 1-0 loss to Kaizer Chiefs, also on Wednesday night, sees Sundowns up to second on the table on 28 points.
The Brazilians are closely followed by AmaZulu on 27 points and SuperSport on 26, but are a massive 11 points behind league leaders Kaizer Chiefs.
