In his speech to wind debate on the motion, Cde Zhuwawo said sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe were the biggest form of violence against the nation.
“The violence that is being perpetrated on the people of Zimbabwe is the violence of sanctions,” he said.
“It is the worst form of violence that has been instituted against the people of Zimbabwe.”
Added Cde Zhuwawo: “If we talk about violence we must talk about it in all its forms, we cannot have people like Professor Tony Hawkins talking outside the country that sanctions should continue to be in place against the people of Zimbabwe and yet he remains on the board of the RBZ.”
Prof Hawkins was appointed to the RBZ board at the formation of the inclusive Government and is a part of the pro-Western local think tanks aligned to the MDC-T.
Cde Zhuwawo also bemoaned the few Bills that have been brought to the House during this session saying it was a disservice to the people that elected them into office.
On the new constitution he castigated Copac for not considering the people’s views in its drafts.
“These drafts do not reflect the views of the people in several instances.
“Of significant concern to the generality of our population and to Zimbabweans who voted us is whether we will be able to protect the views they let out during the outreach,” he said.
However, there was drama when the motion was put for adoption after MDC legislators voted against the motion.
Speaker of House of Assembly Mr Lovemore Moyo had to call twice for its adoption with the result coming out inconclusive in both instances.
Adoption of a motion is made by popular acclamation.
After the acclamation had failed to identify whether the House was for or against the motion, the House was about to be divided before Mr Moyo called for a meeting between the chief whips of Zanu-PF and MDC-T Cde Joram Gumbo and Innocent Gonese respectively.
The motion was later adopted.
