The Parliament of Zimbabwe is set to convene legislators, policymakers and economic experts in Bulawayo later this month as the process of crafting the 2027 National Budget gathers pace.
The 2027 Pre-Budget Seminar will be held at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) Grounds from October 27 to November 1, providing a platform for lawmakers to engage Treasury, the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe and other economic stakeholders on the country’s fiscal and development priorities.
Deputy Speaker of Parliament Tsitsi Gezi notified legislators of the forthcoming seminar during Tuesday’s National Assembly sitting.
“I would like to notify the House that there shall be a 2027 Pre-Budget Seminar to be held at Bulawayo ZITF Grounds from 27 October to 1 November 2026,” she said.
She urged all legislators to attend the seminar.
Senators were also notified of the forthcoming engagements during the Senate sitting.
The seminar comes as Parliament has begun a week-long nationwide public consultation process on the 2027 National Budget, which started on Monday.
The consultations are providing communities, businesses, civil society organisations and other stakeholders with an opportunity to submit their views on the country’s economic priorities and issues affecting livelihoods.
The views gathered during the nationwide consultations will inform Parliament’s consideration of the proposed 2027 Budget and help lawmakers advocate for the priorities raised by citizens.
The Pre-Budget Seminar will take the process a step further by bringing legislators together with Cabinet ministers, Treasury officials, Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe officials and other key economic stakeholders for detailed discussions on fiscal, monetary and development issues.
Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube and Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Governor Dr John Mushayavanhu are expected to lead discussions alongside other Cabinet ministers and chairpersons of Parliamentary Portfolio Committees.
