The Parliament of Zimbabwe will tomorrow hold an orientation seminar for the new legislators in Harare.
The orientation seminar is aimed at educating members of both National Assembly and Senate on what is expected of them during their term in office.
In a statement the Clerk of Parliament, Mr Austin Zvoma said the objective of the seminar was to acquaint members of both the National Assembly and Senate with the committee system as well as their conditions of service.

“The seminar will also explain the structure of the various parliamentary organisations that our Parliament is a member of and our participation therein,” he said.

Mr Zvoma said parliamentarians from Bulawayo and Victoria Falls can utilise the Air Zimbabwe direct flights to Harare and should contact Parliament of Zimbabwe external relations directorate if they opt to fly.

The committee system and conditions of services orientation of legislators comes a week after the parliamentarians were sworn into office.
The only parliamentarians who are yet to be sworn into office are Chikanga-Dangamvura MP, Mr Arnold Tsunga and Binga MP, Mr Gabuza Joel Gabbuza, both from the MDC-T. The two failed to attend the swearing-in for different reasons and would be sworn-in at a later date.
The swearing in of parliamentarians last week on Tuesday set the stage for the start of the First Session of the Eighth Parliament of Zimbabwe on 17 September.

The eighth Zimbabwe parliament is the largest since independence in 1980.
