THE Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services has commended Zimpapers’ print and broadcasting division units, The Manica Post and Diamond FM for not only timeously disseminating information and sensitising communities on the Covid-19 pandemic, but also ensuring that the recommended health guidelines are observed at their workplaces.
The Committee was in Mutare this morning to assess media houses’ level of compliance with the World Health Organisation and Ministry of Health and Child Care regulations on Covid-19 preventative measures.
Its chairperson, Honourable Sipho Ndlovu-Mokone noted that the newspaper and radio station had put in place adequate and effective measures to combat the spread of the pandemic.
Both The Manica Post and Diamond FM have decongested their offices, with some staff working from home, while also providing Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) such as hand sanitisers and faces masks and transport to their employees in adherence to the guidelines. The premise is also fumigated regularly, while both employees and visitors are always temperature checked and hand-sanitised before entering.
