PARLIAMENT is conducting a two-day disaster risk management workshop for Members of Parliament and staff members to come up with a plan on how to respond to emergencies at the New Parliament Building in Mount Hampden.
In his opening remarks, Clerk of Parliament Mr Kennedy Chokuda said it I s important to come up with a disaster risk management plan for the safety of MPs, staff members, and visitors to the New Parliament Building.
“It is important to have a plan on how to respond to emergencies. The New Parliament Building is a mammoth structure, so we have to preserve it, including the safety of those who work here,” he said.
Guest of honour and Deputy Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Mr Albert Mavunga said the plan should cater for everyone.
“The plan that will come out of the workshop should cater for everyone, including persons with disabilities,” he said.
