PARLIAMENT Warriors FC held their third day practice session at Alex Sports Club yesterday. The team is preparing for a friendly international match against Zambian parliamentarians next month. Parliament Warriors FC spokesperson, Trevor Saruwaka, said the turnout at their training sessions was impressive and they were hopeful of improving their fitness levels. Former Warriors fitness coach, Temba Mliswa, is conducting the training sessions. “We are happy with the response from the honourables and we are looking forward to gaining full fitness in our next training sessions,” said Saruwaka.
“We will play Zambia, who have a team, and we are likely to engage several other regional teams. “We will not focus on football alone as we will spread this other sporting disciplines.”
Meanwhile, the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Education, Sport, Arts and Culture has hailed the Warriors’ performance at the 2014 CHAN finals where they reached the semi-finals.
Mliswa, who is the committee chairperson, said what the Warriors did was remarkable. “We congratulate them for their gallant performance and we are going to give them a heroes’ reception at the airport when they return home,” said Mliswa.
