The move, according to Cde Kaukonde, was disturbing the party’s restructuring exercise. “We have had problems with some people in the province who are already allocating themselves constituencies to contest at the primary elections,” said Cde Kaukonde.
“This is affecting our restructuring exercise. We will not accept that nonsense of people rushing to disturb party activities. Instead of campaigning they should be concentrating on auditing party structures, voter inspection and registration. Campaigning will come later,” he said.
Cde Kaukonde said he had since sent a delegation to the districts where the problem was emanating from.
The team, he said, was led by vice provincial chairperson Cde Stephen Chiurayi. He said the team was expected to warn party cadres adding that those who do not comply risk being disqualified.
He said what was important was for the officials to put party interests ahead of individual ones. Cde Kaukonde said the restructuring exercise was going on very well despite disturbances from those who had prematurely hit the campaign trail.
