Passersby harvest money at accident scene

B-Metro Reporter
MONEY does not grow on trees but can certainly be picked up from the scene of a cash-loaded-car accident scene.

The driver of a vehicle that was loaded with cash learnt it the hard way that money is the root of all evil when witnesses that attended to an accident involving his car scrambled to pick up cash despite his desperate cries for help.

A mob of residents and passersby were also seemingly not worried about his a?injuries.a?

a?I think there was more than $5 000 in $50s and $20s crispy notes. I didnat see even a bond note in sight. The guy was later taken by an ambulance but people remained behind harvesting his money,a? said a source that was at the scene.

The accident took place along Connaught Avenue last month.

Investigations by B-Metro revealed a few interesting things about the identity of the vehicle owner.

The vehicle a a silver Mercedes Benz sedan ais registered in the name of Thembinkosi Elan Masuku of Emhlangeni suburb, a new medium density suburb that was commissioned by the Bulawayo City Council in 2015.

Interestingly at the time of the accident on 9 July, insurance cover on the vehicle had expired in June.

Telephone details which are usually included in the personal details of a vehicle owner in the Central Vehicle Registry (CVR) were missing.

A reliable B-Metro source at the CVR, after meticulous search in the database, could not find Masukuas contact details.

Even the owneras national identity (ID) number was missing.

Efforts to trace Masuku were fruitless.

It could not be established if Masuku was driving the vehicle when it was involved in the accident.

Police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi said his office did not receive details of the accident. . .
