PASSION is the major driving force behind FC Sporting XI.
It was formed by workers who decided to take themselves out of the comfort of their offices.
The club is composed of many different professionals like journalists, engineers, programmers, bankers, graduate trainees and college students.
They are all united by their passion for football.
FC Sporting XI co-founder and player coach, Allen King, said social football has played an important role in their lives.
“It’s a social gathering where we accept people, from different backgrounds, with a passion for football.
“The initiative we are trying to push is to help the youth and everyone when they are not at work.
“This helps people avoid many bad things like unwanted pregnancies and drug abuse.
“You will find that our team has a mixture of players from different age groups.
“We want the old ones to impart discipline to the young ones and also create opportunities by interchanging ideas.
“Some people get jobs through links that come with these engagements, and most of our youthful players can testify to this.”
He added:
“After football, we gather and buy each other food and drinks.
“That summarises the essence of everything.
“The most important thing is the passion that we have for football.
“We would like to get to a point where social football is funded by corporates.
“The Government should put more sports structures that will help in the organisation and development of football at grassroots level,” he added.
