Pastel introduces new add-on modules

Pastel Xpress accounting software. Letsap Ltd is a South African company that specialises in the design and development of plug-ins for Pastel Partner and Xpress software that address niche market areas not catered for by Pastel itself.

Letsap partner Mr Gideon Muller presented some of the add-on modules to participants at a seminar in the capital that was recently hosted by Pastel Zimbabwe.
Mr Muller said the plug-ins will enhance Pastel functions and the way companies using them do business.

“The Letsap customer intelligence centre (CIC) has the capacity to capture activities and provide information flow between staff to facilitate fast responses to customers. It was designed to streamline day-to-day dealings with customers. It also provides vital management, financial, customer and inventory statistics,” he said. He also said a data synchronisation feature that comes with the Letsap CIC enables data to be transferred from the Pastel database to the Letsap CIC database.

With this feature, synchronisation can either be done on demand or be set to automatically run at regular intervals.

According to Mr Muller, other useful options of the add-ons include Report Builder, Graph Builder and Customer Budgets.
The Report Builder feature allows personalised reports to be created for specific businesses, while Graph Builder that allows for the creation of new graphs or the editing of old ones.
Graphs can also be grouped together and compared or transferred to one graph for comparative purposes.

Customer budgets allow for the creation of budgets for customers and the viewing of them over a chosen period. It can also clearly indicate what is below budget.
At the same event, Pastel Zimbabwe senior sales consultant Mr Hubert Bvepfepfe announced the introduction of new features that have been added to Version 11 of Pastel Partner.

One of its new features, Foreign Currency Invoices, allows for correct daily exchange rates to be used.
The Project Tracker feature works like cost centres. It allows the listing of projects and gives a project summary, standard income statement, periodic income statement, cashbook details, inventory history and exception report. It shows year to date income and net profit or loss.

Another feature, Bank Manager, has the capability to download bank statements and later import them into the cash flow.
It streamlines the process by allowing one to set up frequent transactions once and then allocate recurring transactions.
It reduces double posting, allocates tax and Value Added Tax, ensuring that VAT goes to the VAT control account.

It can instantly export a transaction into Excel, amend it, make changes and import it back into Bank Manager.
Explaining the Business Intelligence Centre (BIC) feature Mr Bvepfepfe said it makes it possible to print a specific report in a particular way.

BIC assists in creating Microsoft Excel reports and makes it possible to utilise the power of Microsoft Excel for reporting purposes.
Excel Genie, another add-on, transforms Excel data in a meaningful layout, and also makes it possible to customise layout in an instant.
The add-ons provide useful facilities that are not part of the core Pastel software.
