Pastor Alexio Kawara to continue with music career

AFRO-FUSION singer, Alexio Kawara, says he will not quit music despite being ordained a pastor.
Kawara, who now leads an assembly in Harare under Harvest House World Ministries, reckons it is never too late for sinners to repent.

He also cleared the air on his musical career, which has stalled in recent years.

“I do not have a problem being called Pastor Kawara because I was called by God to serve Him,” he said.

“A lot has changed in my life since I met my church leader, Apostle Hatiatyi Kwenda.”

Pastor Kawara, who made a name for himself as one of the pioneers of urban grooves, assured fans he was still in the game.

“I cannot quit music because it came first before I knew God. I am planning to bring back the good memories by holding monthly shows with some of the stars of my generation.

“For a start, I will hold a show alongside Tererai Mugwadi on August 29 at the Zimbabwe German Society. I chose her because we made a great song together back in the day called ‘Tinodanana’, which is still awesome.”

The “Shaina” hit-maker said he is still in touch with his peers despite his pastoral duties.

“I cannot avoid fellow musicians that I used to hang around with before I became a pastor. We had good memories that are difficult to erase because we came a long way.”

Kawara rose to prominence at the turn of the century when the urban grooves movement was started.
