FAST-rising gospel music outfit Pastor Barak Family has expressed heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming support and love it has received from gospel music followers as it continues to preserve and advance the legacy of the late Pastor Barak (Siphethangani Sibanda), a year after his death on June 5.

Renowned for his commanding stage presence and soulful voice, Pastor Barak captivated audiences wherever he performed, building a loyal fan base across Zimbabwe and beyond. His music, particularly the popular hit Wavuma, became a staple in churches, homes and communities, resonating with people.

Formed by backing vocalists who ministered alongside the celebrated gospel artiste, including his wife Rachel Sibanda, Pastor Barak Family has emerged as a torchbearer of his ministry. The group has been warmly embraced by fans who have continued to show unwavering support.

Their recent performances at the Ekhaya Festival and the Bulawayo Arts Festival (BAF) Praises Go Up Gospel Concert in Bulawayo highlighted the growing acceptance of the group, with audiences responding positively to their ministry.

Speaking after the performances, Sibanda said the support they continue to receive has been encouraging and has reaffirmed their mission to keep Pastor Barak’s message alive through worship music.

“Our experience at Ekhaya Fest was truly remarkable and unforgettable. It was a powerful worship encounter that gave us the privilege of sharing the stage with renowned gospel ministers such as Minister Everton Mlalazi, Dumi Mkokstad, Oncemore Six, Zaza, Canaan Nyathi, Blessing Jeduthun, The Unveiled, Joyful Praise Choir, Vocal Base, ZimPraise and many other gifted ministers from our city and beyond.

“Ministering before thousands of worshippers was nothing short of amazing. The love and support we received from people was overwhelming and encouraging,” Sibanda said.
She thanked Everton Mlalazi and the Ekhaya Fest team for creating a platform that brings together believers from different denominations in one spirit of worship, adding that the event demonstrated how gospel music continues to unite people beyond denominational boundaries.

“Events like these give us a glimpse of heaven, where the focus is not on denominations, but on our shared identity as children of God united in glorifying Him,” she said.
Sibanda also reflected on the group’s participation at the Bulawayo Arts Festival, where they were among the gospel acts that opened the city’s week-long arts celebrations.

“At BAF, we brought a vibrant atmosphere of praise, worship and celebration as we came together to honour God and celebrate the city of Bulawayo. We were delighted to see people responding positively to our ministry and joining us in worship,” she said.
