BULAWAYO-based gospel ensemble Pastor Barak Music Family is set to make its Harare debut on Friday as the group continues with its mission to carry forward the late Pastor Barak’s (Siphethangani Sibanda) musical and spiritual legacy.
The group, made up of backing vocalists who ministered alongside Pastor Barak, including his widow Rachel Sibanda, will perform at Jonah Chivasa’s Live Recording concert. They will share the stage with gospel artistes Nyasha Mutonhori, Takie Ndou and Kuda Mutsvene.
Group director Rachel Sibanda described the performance as a breakthrough opportunity that could open new doors for the ministry.
“This concert means a great deal to us. We believe it is a breakthrough opportunity that will open new doors, expand our reach and take our music ministry to another level.
“We want to introduce our music and ministry to a new audience, build meaningful relationships with churches, promoters and other stakeholders in Harare while creating opportunities for future collaborations. We also hope to strengthen our digital presence and reach audiences beyond Harare through social media and other platforms,” she said.
Sibanda said concertgoers can expect a powerful worship experience centred on the group’s message of “Continuing Influence”.
“The people of Harare can expect a Spirit-filled encounter as we continue carrying the message of the ‘Continuing Influence’. We are excited to minister through our music and perform our song Jesus Is Mine, which has topped the Classic 263 Gospel Chart Show for the past two weeks.
“We believe this concert will be more than just a performance. It will be an opportunity to minister, connect with people and establish lasting relationships that will open doors for our music ministry into new markets and greater opportunities,” she said.
Pastor Barak, who died on June 5, 2025, was celebrated for his commanding stage presence, soulful voice and inspiring ministry. His hit song Wavuma remains one of Zimbabwe’s most cherished gospel anthems, earning him a loyal following across the country and beyond.
Following his death, Pastor Barak Music Family was formed to preserve and advance his musical legacy. The ensemble has continued to receive strong support from gospel music lovers and earlier this year the group impressed audiences with a performance at the Ekhaya Music Festival in Bulawayo.
