A PASTOR allegedly assaulted his tenant before locking him and his four-year-old son out of his Nkulumane home for non-payment of rentals.
Clement Tshuma of Church of Christ appeared before Magistrate Temba Chimiso yesterday facing assault charges.
Prosecuting, Ruvimbo Chanduru said Tshuma assaulted and evicted Nkululeko Tshuma over non-payment of rentals.
“On July 4 at around 6PM Clement Tshuma ordered Nkululeko Tshuma to move out of his house, accusing him of not paying rentals. He then hit him once on the forehead with a fist.
Nkululeko didn’t suffer any visible injuries as a result of the assault,” said Chanduru.
The pastor pleaded not guilty and was remanded out of custody to August 29.
Nkululeko alleged in court that he and his four year old son were left in the open after they were thrown out of the house.
“When he evicted me, my son and I were rendered homeless. He locked me out of the house and I incurred hospital expenses because my son started suffering a bout of flu as it was very cold on that night,” said Nkululeko. He reported the matter to the police 18 days later leading to the pastor’s arrest.
