Pastor escapes prison term

prison term for failing to pay maintenance totalling US$1 060 for his two children.

Chitungwiza magistrate Mr Godfrey Unzemoyo ordered the pastor to pay the outstanding money to his estranged wife Ntombizodwa Vingirai by end of next month. Mauka was supposed to pay US$250 per month towards the upkeep of the children and US$270 per term for school fees.

He, however, defaulted payment since January this year and resulting in arrears of US$1 060. In mitigation the man of the cloth unsuccessfully pleaded with the court to allow him to clear the outstanding money through US$100 monthly installments.

Mr Unzemoyo threw out the application ordering him to pay up the money in full by the end of next month.
