A Seke man and a policeman have been brought before the courts for reportedly extorting a church pastor. The pastor Victor Majere of Believe in God Ministries was reportedly extorted of a vehicle worth US$14 000 by Felix Benza of Chitsvatsva Village in Seke and a policeman, Constable Nhango.

Benza (32) had been involved in a residential stand deal with Pastor Victor Majere (30) of Unit M, Seke, Chitungwiza.
However, the deal hit a snag resulting in Benza approaching Majere at his house in the same area in the company of a police officer only identified as Constable Nhango.

Cst Nhango, a friend to Benza, is stationed at Borrowdale Police Station.
The court heard that the pair went to Majere’s house on October 6 at around 10am with the intention of resolving the matter.
Upon arrival, Cst Nhango allegedly took Majere to Chitungwiza police cells where he detained him.

Prosecutor Mr Edmond Ndambakuwa further alleges that Benza was given time to see Majere over the transaction.
It is alleged that Benza advised Majere to surrender his vehicle a Jeep Cherokee so that he could be set free.

Benza allegedly threatened to chop off Majere’s head if he made any follow up on his car.
After taking the car, Majere was released from the cells and he reported the matter at Chitungwiza Police leading to Benza’s arrest.
Benza has since appeared in court to answer to extortion charges before Chitungwiza magistrate Mr Kudakwashe Jarabini.

He is denying the charges and was remanded to October 28.
