Pastor Greatness Tapfuma (31), of the Kingdom Rulers Pentecostal Church in North End, was not formally charged with rape when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Mrs Learnmore Mapiye.
He was remanded to 8 October on $100 bail for trial at the regional courts.
The court further ordered him to reside at Number 12 Helm Road, North End, until the finalisation of his case.
It is the State case that the complainant, aged 25, used to attend inter-denomination all night prayers where Tapfuma used to preach.
On an unknown date but in November last year, she went to his residence after he had called her.
The State will seek to prove that he lured her into his bedroom where he raped her once and was using a condom.
In December the same year, but on a date unknown to the prosecution, Tapfuma went to the complainant’s workplace in the city centre and bought some vegetables.
He allegedly asked her to assist him carry the vegetables since they were boarding the same commuter omnibus and she agreed.
When they got to North End, the State alleges that he persuaded her to alight with him and help him carry his things to his residence and she again agreed.
When they got to the house, the State will seek to prove that he dragged her into his bedroom and was intimate with her again using a condom.
Towards the end of July this year, the complainant confided in her spiritual mentor and told her about the two incidents and the spiritual mentor advised her to make a report to the police.
She finally made a report to the police on 16 September leading to Tapfuma’s arrest.
Mr Masimba Saruwaka appeared for the State and Mr David Mhiribidi, of D W Mhiribidi and Company defended Tapfuma.
