A Chitungwiza church pastor lost cash and valuables to robbers.
Pastor Lebraity Makuni, 28, of Apostolic Faith Mission in Zimbabwe, Praise and Worship Centre Assembly, lost US$300 cash and some valuables including cellphones to three robbers.
Pastor Makuni was asleep in his bedroom at around midnight when the three robbers broke the kitchen door using an iron bar.
They manhandled him and stuffed his mouth with some cotton wool.
The robbers went on to tie his hands with a computer cable and assaulted him all over the body with an unknown object demanding cash. They then ransacked the house and stole US$300, which was stashed under the mattress and Tecno handset before fleeing.
The pastor later sought assistance from a neighbour who untied him and removed the cotton wool from his mouth.
Pastor Makuni had no visible injuries but was rushed to the hospital complaining of pain in the left side ribs, right shoulder, right thigh, and lower right limb.
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the case saying Pastor Makuni lost a total of US$7500.
“Police are investigating a robbery case involving a clergyman who was assaulted and lost cash and valuables.
“He was rushed to Chitungwiza Hospital for treatment,” said Insp Chakanza.
